Walks or base on balls (BB) is the total number of times a player is awarded first base because the pitcher issued 4 balls before the player puts the ball is put in play, is hit by a pitch, or strikes out. This is measure over a given time period, for example season or career. Generally, for Walks, higher is better. (Source)
