About Defense Independent ERA

Defense-Independent Component ERA (dERA) is a tweak on component ERA, a metric used to forcast the ERA based upon other pitching statistics. Defense-Independent Component ERA removes a pitcher defensive statistics and focuses only on their pitching statistics. Generally, for Defense Independent ERA, lower is better. (Source)
