About Walks

A walk is issued by a pitcher or a team's pitchers when four balls, pitches out of the strike zone which do not hit the batter and are not swung on, before the plate appearance ends. The batter is then given first base and the plate apperance is over. Generally, for Walks, lower is better. (Source)
