Manny Machado Strikeouts
Manny Machado Career Strikeouts Overview
As a professional baseball player, Manny Machado has struck out a significant number of times throughout his career. However, it's important to note that strikeouts are a common occurrence for many players, particularly those who hit a lot of home runs or have a high number of plate appearances.
In Machado's career as of my knowledge cutoff of 2021, he had struck out a total of 1069 times in 6273 plate appearances, which is a strikeout rate of approximately 17%. While that is a relatively high percentage, it's worth noting that Machado's power-hitting abilities have made him a valuable player despite the strikeouts.
It's also worth noting that Machado has been working to reduce his strikeout rate in recent years. In 2020, his strikeout rate was 14.8%, which was the lowest of his career up to that point. While his strikeout rate did increase slightly in the 2021 season, he still managed to hit 28 home runs and be a productive player for the San Diego Padres.
Overall, strikeouts are a part of the game of baseball, and while Machado has had his fair share, he has also been an incredibly talented player who has contributed greatly to his teams over the years.
Strikeouts (K) are outs recorded because the player at bat accumulates 3 strikes before putting the ball in play, is walked, or hit by a pitch. Strikes are accumlated by swinging and missing a pitch, not swinging at a pitch in the strike zone, or by hitting a foul ball. Foul ball strkes however are not counted for a third strike unless the foul results from a bunt or is a foul tip caught by the catcher. Generally, for Strikeouts, lower is better. (Source)
